 Santa's Watching
Author Unknown

Christmas time is coming,
It’s time we must be good,
For Santa’s watching everyday,
And we forgot we should.

Clean our room and wash the car,
Help mom with every chore,
For presents we are after,
And a good one we must score.

No time to chat, no time to play,
There’s dishes to be done.
There will be time later,
For us to have some fun!

Let It Snow!

Well kids, it's that time of year again. Cool crisp days, holiday fun, warm cookies and cocoa beside a fire. There is one more thing that can be so much fun, and that is SNOW! We thought it would be interesting to look at some fun facts about snow. Then, you can ask your parents if they know as much about snow as you do.

Did you know that snow forms when water vapor in the atmosphere freezes into ice crystals? Wow.

Light and fluffy snow is sometimes called powder. Isn't that funny?

Heavy snowfalls are called snowstorms. Sort of like a thunderstorm in the summer. Just colder!

Did you know that the highest snowfall ever recorded in one year was 1,224 inches? It happened in Mount Rainier, Washington State, between February 19th, 1971 and February 18th, 1972. That is a lot of snow.

Snow can also be fun. Families can have snowball fights, build snowmen, and of course there is sled riding. Plus, you can make snow cream! Ask Mom and Dad to help you with this project. It is so yummy.

So, bundle up, put on your boots and get outside and have fun!

Craft Stick Christmas Trees

With your parents help, create a Christmas tree craft!

Supplies

  • Green, yellow and brown paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Craft sticks: two large, three medium, and two small
  • Wooden star cutout or small die-cut star
  • Decorations such as glitter, stickers, sequins, and foam cutout
  • Craft glue

Step by Step:

  1. Take a large craft stick and place it vertically, to make a base for the other sticks.
  2. Next, to make the bottom branch of the tree: Glue a second large craft stick across the bottom of the first, leaving just enough room to form a tree trunk.
  3. Glue the three medium-sized sticks horizontally above the large stick.
  4. Next, glue the small sticks above the medium sticks, leaving enough room for a star on top.
  5. Paint the tree trunk brown and the branches green -- or whatever colors you're inspired to use!
  6. Set aside to dry.
  7. Paint the star yellow, or use glitter and glue to jazz it up. Set aside to dry.
  8. After all elements are dry, glue the star to the top of the tree.
  9. Finally, add any other decorations you like!
