 Snow Day
by Caryn Yacowitz

It happened while we were all asleep.
Snow had fallen - six feet deep.
The temperature was ten below.
All the roads were blocked with snow.
"No school today", the radio said.
"Stay at home in your cozy bed."
So I quickly dressed
And jumped on my sled.

What Does the Head Teller Do?

When you visit your local F&M Bank branch with Mom or Dad, you probably see lots of different people doing tons of different things. We thought it would fun to show you what all those people do and how it affects you! This month, let's learn a little bit about the duties of a head teller.

Last newsletter, we talked about branch specialists and how they help the manager oversee the daily activities of the branch like answering customer phone calls, opening accounts, and making loans - she is like the manager's right hand!

Well, the head teller is also a great helper and works with the manager to supervise the teller line. This includes making the teller schedule and training staff so that customer questions can always be answered!

The head teller also helps make sure both staff and customers are happy. She answers the phone, and helps customers make payments, deposits, or withdrawals.

On top of helping customers, the head teller makes sure the money in her drawer is always counted and balanced. She also does this with the vault too!

Next time you visit the bank, see if you can find the head teller. She is usually behind the teller line answering questions and helping customers.

Christmas Travel Activities

Guess what kids? Christmas time is coming up and travel time is on. A lot of you will be traveling to visit your grandparents, aunts, uncles and lots of cousins. Some will be making short trips, but some will be very long. It's hard to sit still when you know that grandma has cookies and presents waiting for you when you arrive.

What do you do to keep yourselves occupied for all that time in a car? Well here are a couple of ideas to pass some time. I know you've heard of the alphabet game, right? Well let's change that up a little bit and think of some fun winter time words like "Snow", "Christmas", "Jingle Bells" or "Presents". As you're traveling down the highway, take a letter from each word you chose and find something interesting along the way to match that letter. Let's just say you're looking for something that has an "s" in it. You may drive by a stop sign and there you have it. Continue with each letter until you have completed the word. It will be fun to see what you come up with. Let Mom and Dad help if you find a letter that is too difficult. This will also be fun sharing with your family when you arrive.

Here is something else that may be fun. Take a box of Christmas cards with you and write little notes to your grandparents and cousins before you arrive. You know grandparents really love getting notes from you. Make sure you have crayons and markers, so you can add some pictures too. You won't believe how fast the time will fly by and before you know it, you will be there.

Have a very happy and safe holiday season!
