Identity Theft is the fastest-growing crime in the United States, affecting millions of Americans annually. It can happen to anyone—regardless of how careful you are, regardless of your age and income, and regardless of where you live. Restoring your identity on your own can be time-consuming and stressful. Don't wait until you're a victim to take action.

Protect your identity at one of our community shred days! Through our partnership with Shred-it, we provide free, off-site document shredding to ensure the most secure destruction of your personal documents.

Bank Day Scholarship Program

This month, Valley high school seniors will spend the day shadowing bankers at F&M Bank locations as part of Bank Day, a statewide effort sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) Education Foundation and the Virginia Bankers Association Leadership Division. The purpose of the day is to expose students to the banking industry and provide an opportunity for the students to learn about banking, financial services and the vital role F&M Bank plays in its community. Pictured below, students from Turner Ashby, Spotswood, and Stuarts Draft participate in Bank Day 2016 at F&M Bank Crossroads. This year, 23 students from Shenandoah, Rockingham, and Augusta Counties are registered to shadow at F&M Bank and write an essay for the chance to win scholarship funds!

Casual Fridays for Charity

Throughout the month of February, employees donated over $750 to the March of Dimes.

The March of Dimes focuses on preventing birth defects and infant mortality. The foundation has led the way to discover the genetic causes of birth defects, to promote newborn screening, and to educate medical professionals and the public about best practices for healthy pregnancy. Since 2003, their fight to save babies has been strongly characterized by their Prematurity Campaign. The rising incidence of premature birth has demanded action, and the March of Dimes has responded by initiating an intensive, multi-year campaign to raise awareness and find the causes of prematurity.

We hope you don't mind these dress-down days as they are for a good cause! Keep an eye out for future announcements on our Facebook page.

Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA Pet of the Month

Bubba is a sweet and gentle 3 year old coonhound with a heart as big as his ears. That's saying a lot, because this guy is all ears! When he's not out for a walk, you'll find Bubba curled up on his bed waiting patiently for a visitor to come by his kennel. If there are kids in the home, Bubba would do best with children 5 and up since he really loves his food and isn't big on sharing. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with his houndy brothers and sisters at the shelter. Bubba would love a yard to run around in and would probably appreciate getting walked on a regular basis. If you think he could be your next best friend, swing by the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA and meet him!  www.rhspca.org
